UEG Opens Call for Elections 2026


The United European Gastroenterology (UEG) has opened its Call for Elections 2026, inviting nominations for a number of key leadership and representative positions across the organisation. 

The following positions are open for election for the term running from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2030:

  • National Societies Chair
  • 21 National Societies Representatives to the UEG Meeting of Members
  • Treasurer
  • Quality of Care Committee Chair  

The National Societies Chair plays an important role in strengthening collaboration and communication among UEG National Member Societies and serves as a member of UEG Council. UEG is encouraging applications from individuals with a strong interest in advancing gastrointestinal health across diverse national settings. 

UEG has also highlighted its commitment to diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals of all genders, ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, abilities and experiences to help ensure balanced representation across the organisation. 

Applications and nominations

As both a UEG National Member Society and UEG Member Society, the British Society of Gastroenterology is responsible for nominating candidates for these positions.

Members interested in applying are invited to submit:

  • A short mission statement and Curriculum Vitae (maximum one A4 page)
  • Details of the position they are applying for

Applications should be submitted by email to [email protected] by Friday 7 August 2026 for consideration by a BSG review panel.

Following review, applicants selected to go forward for nomination will be notified ahead of the official UEG submission deadline.

Key dates

BSG application deadline: Friday 7 August 2026

UEG application deadline: Tuesday 1 September 2026 

Election date: Saturday 17 October 2026 during UEG Week 2026 in Barcelona 

UEG has encouraged Member Societies to actively identify and support qualified candidates who can contribute to the organisation’s continued growth and development.
