The BSG Council is the Society’s principal representative and professional forum. It brings together elected members and representatives from across the BSG’s committees and wider community.

Council provides professional and strategic input into the direction of the Society, represents the views and interests of members, and facilitates communication and collaboration across the BSG’s many areas of activity. It plays an important role in informing priorities and advising on matters affecting gastroenterology and the wider profession.

BSG Council

The voting members of Council come from three areas:

  1. Directly Elected Councillors – There are ten Elected Councillors with a variety of experience in BSG roles and with different perspectives in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  2. The Executive – all members of the Executive also sit as voting members on Council
  3. The appointed Chairs of the Higher Committees
  4. Higher Committees key leads such as the Clinical Services Committee Guidelines Lead, Clinical Services Committee QI Lead and BSG Workforce Lead
  5. The Chairs of BSG Nursing and Trainees Section Committees

If, as a member, you have a point that you wish to make to Council or any of the Committees, we will ensure that every message is addressed by the Elected Council and taken to the relevant Committee, if appropriate. You can contact us at [email protected].
