We are delighted to announce that, following the recent election, the next BSG President-Elect will be Professor David Sanders.
Professor Sanders has a strong track record in Gastroenterology and we are looking forward to him bringing his leadership to the BSG over the coming years.
Professor Sanders will, as President-Elect from June 2026-28, work alongside our next President, Dr Harriet Gordon, and will then take over as President from June 2028-30.
On behalf of the BSG Board and myself, I would like to offer huge congratulations to Professor Sanders. I am sure that he will do an outstanding job.

Biography
David Surendran Sanders is Professor of Gastroenterology at The University of Sheffield and an NHS consultant based in The Academic Unit of Gastroenterology, Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the NHS England National Centre for Refractory Coeliac Disease. He is the current Chair of the Coeliac UK Health Advisory Council, board member of the European Society for study of Coeliac Disease (ESsCD), former BSG Council Member from 2016-2019 and former President of the International Society for the Study of Coeliac Disease (ISSCD) from 2016-2019. He is a medical doctor, international researcher and author.
