Congratulations to our new Mentoring Lead, Dr Noor Jawad


Congratulations to Dr Noor Jawad on her appointment as the new BSG Mentoring Lead!

Noor qualified from Guy's Kings and St Thomas' Medical School. She then completed internal medicine training on the Bart's and The London rotation and worked at The King’s Liver Unit. During her specialist training in gastroenterology in North-East Thames, Noor was awarded a Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the Medical Research Council (MRC), and was awarded her PhD in Stem Cell Dynamics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in 2015, having worked at Cancer Research UK, Lincolns Inn Fields, the Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology, Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), and Charterhouse Square, Bart’s Cancer Institute. Noor’s work gained recognition from the BSG, winning various BSG awards.

Noor was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Bart's Health NHS Trust in 2016, with a specialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She is the North-East Thames Inflammatory Bowel Disease Strategy Group Chair, and the Royal College of Physicians College Tutor for Medicine since 2021. She is the local Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine Trainees and has been the resident doctor support champion.

Noor continues to publish articles in gastroenterology, education and research and has co-authored Gastroenterology book chapters in medical textbooks. She has a passion for education and training and continues to collaborate with colleagues at the Institute of Cancer Research.
