Congratulations to Dr Andy Douds, BSG member and former BSG Chair CSSC/QI Lead, on being elected as the new President of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology from 1st January 2026 at the recent UEGW meeting in Berlin.

Dr Douds has stated that his main aims as President are:

1. To promote the RCP Federation specialty exam in gastroenterology across Europe; currently it is only mandated in the UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
2. To promote the BSG green endoscopy guidelines.
3. To encourage collaboration between European centres, for example Trainee and consultant exchanges.
