BSG Travelling Fellowship – AASLD and visit to the UCSD MASLD Research Centre in San Diego

Background

This fellowship aims to offer an opportunity for a senior trainee who has a strong interest in Hepatology to attend AASLD’s Liver Meeting in Denver, Colorado, USA in November 2026 to see the latest research and clinical updates in Hepatology.

There is also an opportunity to spend between one and two weeks at an internationally recognised hepatology centre of clinical excellence: the UCSD MASLD Research Centre in San Diego hosted by Prof Rohit Loomba and his team. This will be a great opportunity to see clinical and research practice in a world-leading centre.

The fellow will be a guest visitor for one to two weeks, and Prof Loomba and his team will build a daily agenda that includes a mix of activities such as shadowing clinical studies, joining lab meetings and patient rounds, participating in lab activities and specific experimental procedures, attending lectures and seminars, and having one-on-one meetings with PIs.

What previous winners said about the fellowship:

This experience has allowed me to expand my knowledge, gain new research ideas, and form invaluable connections… These connections have already proven invaluable in fostering future collaborations and expanding my professional network.”

Awards of up to £5,000 will be made to the successful applicant to cover accommodation and travel expenses to attend the AASLD Liver Meeting plus the travelling fellowship.
