We are delighted to announce that registration is now open for the USG–BSG Joint Autumn Events, jointly run by the Ulster Society of Gastroenterology and the BSG as part of the Project 90 celebrations.
This autumn, we will be holding a 2-day event on the Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th November, with the 3rd November specifically designed for aspiring general medical physicians and gastroenterologists across Northern Ireland. We present a day filled with talks and practical sessions giving genuine insight into a career in medicine and gastroenterology. This will include CV and interview tips, honest discussions on life as a medical registrar, showcasing Gastroenterology training pathways, and a fully equipped Endoscopy village with multiple hands-on stations including the opportunity to manage your very first upper GI bleed in a supported, practical setting. Throughout the day, you will hear from the current President of the BSG, Dr Harriet Gordon, have the chance to speak directly with current trainees and consultants, and gain invaluable, practical advice on navigating applications and interviews. A particular highlight is the Endoscopy village, which offers a rare opportunity to gain early exposure to procedural skills that are often difficult to access at junior level. The day is aimed at junior resident doctors from F1 upwards who are considering or curious about a future career in gastroenterology.
Places will be limited, and to ensure committed attendance, a small upfront fee will be required, which will be fully refunded upon attendance on the day. We expect significant interest, particularly given the opportunity to access this experience locally, so we strongly encourage you to share with colleagues and secure your place.

Our dedicated Trainee Development Day will combine practical, hands-on learning with career and professional development, with contributions from both USG and BSG colleagues.
Target audience: Resident medical and surgical staff at all stages of training, from medical students through to senior specialty doctors, who have not yet secured a National Training Number (NTN) and who have an interest in or are considering a career in gastroenterology.
Registration (£50 refundable attendance deposit): A £50 attendance deposit will be taken at the time of booking and will leave your bank account. Following your attendance and completion of the Trainee Development Day on Tuesday 3 November, the full £50 will be refunded to your original payment method. This means the Trainee Development Day is FREE for all delegates who attend and complete the day. The £50 deposit will only be retained in the event of non-attendance.

We are actively encouraging all our members – nursing, trainee and medical – to join us for our Pre-Conference Dinner. For those who attend, registration for the Scientific Meeting on 4 November is included FREE!
Join colleagues from USG and BSG for an evening of networking at the Europa Hotel. The evening will begin with a Meet the BSG Welcome Reception, providing an informal opportunity to meet and connect with BSG representatives and colleagues, followed by the USG–BSG Pre-Conference Dinner.

We welcome submissions showcasing research, audit, quality improvement and clinical work across gastroenterology.
All abstracts must be submitted in PDF format. Following review, 12 abstracts will be selected for poster presentation and 3 abstracts will be selected for oral presentation. Successful oral presenters will be allocated a 10-minute presentation slot during the Scientific Meeting.
SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT HERE.
The 12 successful poster presenters will be required to provide their poster in A1 size. Posters can be supplied on Tuesday 3 November or on the morning of Wednesday 4 November.
Poster judging will take place during the scheduled conference breaks, with posters reviewed by senior committee members.
The winning poster will be selected during the meeting and announced at the end of the Scientific Meeting.
