BSG Webinar: IBD Endoscopy Disease Activity Scoring Part 2: Crohn’s disease, post operative & stricture assessment

14-07-2026 @ 18:00 - 14-07-2026 @ 19:00

Online

Accurate endoscopic assessment is fundamental to modern inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) management. This webinar features Professor Rachel Cooney, Chief investigator of the OCEAN trial and and Dr Sash Honap, central reader for clinical trials are both experts in endoscopic IBD disease assessment and management.

This focused webinar provides practical training in endoscopic disease activity scoring systems for Crohn’s disease, post operative Crohn’s disease and strictures. Participants will gain practical insights into applying validated scoring systems in everyday clinical practice, research settings, and multidisciplinary care.

Co-Chairs: Dr Shahida Din and Dr Nick Kennedy

Why Attend?

Attending this course will enable participants to apply validated endoscopic scoring systems consistently in routine practice, improving the accuracy of disease activity assessment in Crohn’s disease. Enhanced familiarity with scoring indices such as the SESCD and Rutgeerts Score will support more standardised reporting, facilitate clearer communication within multidisciplinary teams, and improve documentation for both clinical care and research.

Participants will also gain practical experience interpreting endoscopic findings through case-based learning, helping them recognise subtle mucosal changes and differentiate disease severity. This knowledge supports evidence-based treatment decisions, including therapy escalation, monitoring response to biologics, and assessing mucosal healing targets.

For trainees and early-career clinicians, the course provides a structured framework for learning IBD endoscopic assessment, strengthening both procedural interpretation skills and understanding of how endoscopic findings guide patient management.
