BSG & ESGE Guidelines 2021 Update: Endoscopy in patients on antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy, including direct oral anticoagulants

Addendum 3 June 2024

We are pleased to announce the online publication of the update to the 2016 collaborative BSG/ESGE guideline on endoscopy in patients on antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy.

An extensive revision, and evidence-based update, has been conducted throughout, and a section has been added on the management of patients presenting with acute GI haemorrhage.

As well as gastroenterologists, the authors include haematologists with expertise in thrombosis, an interventional cardiologist, and strong patient representation.

As before, recommendations are based on the risk balance between thrombosis and haemorrhage in given situations.
