Professor Stuart McPherson is a Consultant Hepatologist at Newcastle Hospitals.

Professor McPherson is also an Honorary Professor of Hepatology Practice in the Translational and Clinical Research Institute at Newcastle University. He has a strong research interest aiming to improve the care of patients with liver disease, and is actively conducting research to improve clinical care pathways for patients with viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and fatty liver disease to identify and treat these diseases at an early stage to prevent patients developing advanced liver disease. He has been a principal investigator for multiple clinical trials assessing new treatments for liver disease and has published more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
