Prof Siwan Thomas-Gibson

Professor Siwan Thomas-Gibson is Professor of Practice in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at Imperial College London and Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Mark's Hospital, London. An internationally recognised expert in gastrointestinal endoscopy, she has dedicated her career to advancing the quality, safety and effectiveness of endoscopic practice, with particular expertise in bowel cancer screening, advanced colonoscopy and the endoscopic management of early colorectal neoplasia.

Professor Thomas-Gibson has held a number of national leadership roles, including Chair of the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG), where she played a pivotal role in developing standards for endoscopy training, accreditation and quality assurance across the UK. She has published extensively on endoscopy quality, patient safety and education, is a regular faculty member at national and international meetings, and has received the British Society of Gastroenterology Hopkins Endoscopy Prize in recognition of her contribution to the specialty.

As a BSG Elected Councillor for the 2024–2027 term, Professor Thomas-Gibson will contribute to the strategic direction of the Society, supporting initiatives that promote excellence in endoscopy, education, quality improvement and patient care across UK gastroenterology.
