Elected Councillor, June 2026 - 2029

Dr Mo Thoufeeq is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with specialist interests in therapeutic endoscopy, gastrointestinal bleeding and endoscopy quality improvement. He has a strong track record in endoscopy training and has been instrumental in developing national and international educational programmes, particularly in the management of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

Dr Thoufeeq has held a number of leadership roles within the British Society of Gastroenterology, including Chair of the International Committee, where he has strengthened global partnerships and expanded international educational collaborations. He is actively involved in research using the National Endoscopy Database (NED) to improve endoscopy quality and patient outcomes and has contributed to national quality improvement initiatives and endoscopy training programmes.

As an elected BSG Councillor for the 2026–2029 term, Dr Thoufeeq will continue to support the Society's strategic priorities, championing excellence in endoscopy, education, quality improvement and international collaboration.
