Bursaries
The BSG offers a range of bursaries to support members who would find it financially difficult to attend an event or course.
Annual Meeting Bursaries
Applications for BSG LIVE'25 Bursaries are now closed.
The Annual Meeting Bursaries are for attending the yearly BSG Annual Meeting, available for trainees, nurses, undergraduates who are members of the Society.
You must be a BSG member for at least a year (unless you are an undergraduate member) to apply and this information will be checked by the BSG office as part of the judging process. We also invite overseas delegates who would find it financially difficult to attend BSG LIVE'25 to present their accepted abstract(s) to apply for a bursary. Each bursary of up to £500 is funded by the BSG. Ten additional bursaries for nurses to attend BSG LIVE'25 have been made possible through a hands-off grant from Johnson & Johnson. The bursary should only cover expenses relating to travel, accommodation or the conference fee.
You will be notified about the outcome of your application by mid-May by the BSG office. Bursaries will be paid after the meeting on submission of your expense claim and filling out a brief questionnaire on what sessions you found most relevant and beneficial, what your experience was of presenting an abstract if applicable, and your overall experience of the annual meeting. Bursaries are open to UK and overseas BSG members.

"As an advanced practitioner, it was great to network with peers through the UK, understanding developments in IBD specialist nursing. Clinically, it was great to get updates in IBD, liver disease, small bowel, and nutrition. My favourite was the NET’s session; this is something that is rarely presented so it was good to get an update. I feel this opportunity has been great to support my fellowship, update me clinically whilst networking with colleagues. Thank you."
