Designed for gastroenterology and hepatology trainees approaching the completion of their training, this immersive, multi-day residential course helps bridge the gap between specialist training and consultant practice. Through expert-led workshops, practical learning and tailored coaching, participants can develop the skills, confidence and insights needed to navigate the challenges of their first consultant post, while building valuable professional networks with peers and senior faculty from across the UK.

What to expect in 2027?

Practical Skills for Consultant Practice – Gain insights into the leadership and management responsibilities of a consultant, from leading multidisciplinary teams and navigating NHS structures to managing competing priorities and driving service improvement.
NHS Finance & Business Case Development – Develop an understanding of NHS finances, resource allocation and commissioning, with practical insights into building business cases to support service development and secure resources.
Consultant Career Preparation – Build confidence for consultant appointments through tailored CV guidance, realistic mock interviews and one-to-one public speaking coaching, helping you present your skills and experience effectively.
Networking & Peer Learning – Connect with fellow trainees and experienced faculty from across the UK, share experiences and learn from others preparing for the transition to consultant practice.
