Congratulations to Dr Shellie Radford; the new BSG Deputy Chair of the Research Committee


We are pleased to extend our congratulations to the BSG's new Deputy Chair of the Research Committee, Dr Shellie Radford!

Shellie Radford is a Clinical Academic IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) Nurse Specialist and researcher based in Nottingham, UK. She is affiliated with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham, the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical research centre and the Nottingham Clinical trials Unit. Her work is characterised by a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation in care, and research, and ensuring that research findings translate into meaningful improvements for patients living with IBD.

Shellie qualified as a nurse in 2013 and has specialised in gastroenterology since 2016, developing significant expertise in the management of IBD. She was awarded her PhD in 2023. Her doctoral research focused on improving care and outcomes for people living with IBD, with particular interests in patient experience, non-invasive monitoring approaches, and the implementation of novel technologies such as intestinal ultrasound in routine clinical practice.

In addition to her clinical and academic work, Shellie is an experienced clinical trials methodologist and Senior Research Fellow in gastroenterology, contributing to national and international research collaborations. Her work spans clinical trials design, health outcomes research, and improving quality of life for patients with chronic gastrointestinal conditions.

Shellie is a committed advocate for clinical academic nursing. She contributes to advancing nursing research capacity and promoting the integration of research into everyday clinical practice.
