This online capsule endoscopy reading course is designed to train aspiring practitioners to perform and read full capsule studies reliably.
The entire curriculum can be completed part time from work or home and it conforms to the standards recommended by International and American guidelines. The web-based training is especially suitable for gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, hospital specialists and trainees or nurses with endoscopy experience.
On registration, delegates will receive an interactive mobile App that teaches patient preparation and image recognition of the most common disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon.
On completing the App, candidates will be provided with access to a browser-based simulator and a library of 20 full capsule videos, progressively graded in complexity, delivered in stages comprising five cases, supported initially by weekly webinars.
Once each set of five cases have been reported, our experts will evaluate the reports and rapidly provide written feedback on each.
When appropriate, one-to-one online guidance will be provided.
Delegates should plan for four hours of practice per week and should aim to complete the course in 10 weeks.
Exit criteria: at the summative assessment stage, the expectation is that candidates recognise at least 90% of clinically significant pathologies.
On satisfactory completion of all 20 cases, a certificate of completion will be awarded recognising that the candidate has fulfilled published training criteria.
This course has been approved for 40 RCP CPD points.

Delegates will be encouraged to view and report on two full cases weekly. Delegates’ reports will be submitted to a dashboard.
