Other BSG Bursaries
EASL Travel Bursary 2025
The BSG Research Committee has, for the first time, offered 3 travel bursaries for delegates to EASL’25 who are BSG Members of at least a
year and who would find it financially difficult to attend the conference to present their accepted abstract(s). This was available to trainees, nurses/AHPs and consultants in the first 2 years of their post. Each bursary was of value up to £800 and was intended to reimburse the costs of registration, travel and/or accommodation.
A condition of the award was that the winners provided a report on what they felt was most valuable about attending the conference, what they enjoyed the most and what they learned that they could bring back to their daily work.
The three winners of the bursaries for EASL’25 and their reports can be read below:
Dr Katrina Pekarska, Clinical Research Fellow (OOPR) in Hepatology working towards an MD with the University of Leeds.
The accepted abstract was titled “MetALD has a higher rate of extrahepatic cancer and cardiovascular events compared to other subtypes of steatotic liver disease.”
Ms Bethia Featherstone, Community Liver Specialist Nurse, part of the Hepatology team in Hull University Teaching Hospital.
The accepted abstract was titled “Community liver health checks are a valuable tool to support early diagnosis of liver disease.”
Read Ms Featherstone's Report.
Dr Samantha Campbell, Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Hepatology at Kings College Hospital, London (ST6).
The accepted abstract was titled “Assessing the safety and efficacy of advanced therapies to treat inflammatory bowel disease in patients with a liver transplant.”
