We are delighted to inform you that the 2022 UK wide acute upper GI bleed audit starts on the 3rd of May 2022. The audit aims to prospectively collect information on all patients presenting with AUGIB to your hospital between a 2 month period (3rd of May 2022 to 2nd of July 2022). Data collection with information on a further follow-up period of 28 days for the included patients will close on 2nd August 2022.

The landscape of acute upper GI bleeding has significantly changed since the last audit of 2007 with the advent of novel therapeutic endoscopy, interventional radiology, formation of formal 24/7 GI bleeding networks, and the introduction of the BSG GI bleed care bundle. We are including in the audit an organisational and trainee questionnaire to better understand service provision and training in the management of this important GI emergency.

The audit is endorsed by the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), British Association for Study of Liver diseases (BASL), Royal College of Physicians (RCP), Scottish Society of Gastroenterology (SSG), Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS) and British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR).
