Professor Neeraj Bhala awarded the Bisset Hawkins Medal

We are delighted to extend our congratulations to BSG member Professor Neeraj Bhala on receiving the prestigious Bisset Hawkins Medal from the Royal College of Physicians!

Prof Neeraj Bhala is a Professor of Gastroenterology and Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Melbourne Medical School, as well as a Consultant Physician & Gastroenterologist at Royal Melbourne Hospital.

This triennial award recognises outstanding contributions to public health and sanitary science. The honour reflects his commitment to reducing preventable gastrointestinal and liver disease. As the first Indian-origin foreign gold medallist, and now based at the University and Royal Melbourne Hospital, Prof Bhala hopes this recognition will help inspire the next generation of population health research-active clinicians.
