15-04-2024 @ 11:59 - 10-06-2024 @ 11:59

Online

We are delighted to endorse the Online Upper GI Small Bowel Capsule Reading Course from 15th April to 10th June 2024.

You may be a doctor or a specialist nurse wanting to become a certified capsule reader. You can do it in just 50 hours of training time.

Learning Objectives:

  • A flexible web-based, self-directed format with regular expert guidance and review.
  • You will develop skill and confidence by reading full capsule cases with the PillCam Web Software v9.0 simulator. (Reading skills are transferable across other capsule reading systems.)
  • Preparation – Access our Image Recognition App to develop image recognition skills. Preview normal and abnormal pathology by viewing realtime clips. Available from registration and for the duration of the course.
  • Reading and Reporting – Practise on full cases, available via the PillCam Simulator. Stages are graded “Easy” through “Moderate” to “Difficult”. You need to practise on at least 15 full cases before attempting the 5 Summative Assessment cases.
  • Group mentoring – Be guided by the IMIGe Team, which has over 10 years’ experience of video capsule, has reported over 4,000 cases and is widely recognised as one of the leading units in Europe

Requirements

  • You should have a minimum of three years’ experience in a specialist role within gastroenterology.
  • Ideally, you will have one year’s experience of endoscopy.
  • You may be in practice but have not yet achieved the widely recognised competence threshold of reading at least 20 fully supervised small bowel capsule cases. See American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Training Committee 2011-2012. Rajan EA, et al. Small bowel endoscopy core curriculum. Gastrointest Endosc. 2013; 77(1): 1-6.
