Queen Elizabeth Gateshead NHS Health Trust

Endoscopy Training and Therapeutic Fellow
Duration
One year
This role involves working in 2 units that provide a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and teaching endoscopy. A key part of the role is supporting the training courses that already take place at QEH. The training courses include basic OGD and colon, as well as therapeutic courses, and train-the-trainers courses. Having done a train-the-trainers course is desirable, but not mandatory - we can arrange for the candidate to do a course early on. The other aspect is developing diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Durham, Darlington, and QEH have a complex rectal polyp MDT every fortnight and we perform EMR and ESD for these lesions. Upskilling in therapy will be supported with dedicated training lists (2 per week), and there will be service lists to embed skills (2 per week). The post also includes OP clinic (1 per week) and ward work with support for the gastro ward as part of the weekly timetable (3 per week). On call is optional. Research and audit will take place in the admin session (2 per week).
