This year, the award lecture will be delivered by Dr James Lee, Wellcome Trust Intermediate Clinical Fellow and Consultant Gastroenterologist at the University of Cambridge. Dr Lee’s research career to date has had several themes, all of which have centred on the overarching goal of uncovering novel insights into the biology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using next generation genetic and genomic approaches.  His Wellcome Trust Intermediate Fellowship enables him to study the molecular and immunological mechanisms by which disease-associated genetic variants in ‘gene deserts’ might contribute to IBD pathogenesis. His lecture “Genetics of prognosis in Crohn’s disease” will be delivered at the BSG's Annual Meeting on Tuesday 5 June 2018 at the Liverpool ACC.
