The Core Rides Again call-up has come – and requires a band of 30 hardy gastroenterologists and allies to get back in the saddle, get fit(ish), have fun and raise some funds.  Remember this is our gastro charity, and does a fantastic job of supporting our trainees to do important research. For 2018 we’ll be joining Ride London, a hugely popular event over 100 miles in and around the city. There are just 10 Core places left now, so – if you are confident you can raise the funds – please sign up with Nicki at nhood@corecharity.org.uk . Thinking hats on re fund raising ideas. Top tip from Cambridge: have a large yellow sharps bin / money box and a big poster in your clinic and endoscopy waiting area, and ask all the patients you see or scope to contribute a pound or more for Core and gastro research. It creates a nice bit of banter. And if like me you have a brass neck, get out there into your busy waiting room a couple of times during your list, rattle the bucket and explain to folk why you are riding 100 miles for Core. Then invite donations or better still pass the bucket round. Nobody minds and you end up with a LOT of cash! (we have raised several thousand pounds for Core in Cambridge by doing this).

Hope to see you there! Happy riding

All the best

Miles Parkes
