Women in Gastroenterology

In 2014 the BSG launched a new initiative open to all BSG members, recognising that women were underrepresented in both our specialty and in the Society.

The primary purpose was to define the specific problems of recruitment of women to the specialty and to raise awareness of the challenges facing women in gastroenterology, providing a support network across their careers. As part of this, the first Supporting Women in Gastoenterology conference took place last October with the intention of making this an annual event.

Our ongoing our aim is provide a supportive environment in which women can develop into senior leadership roles, in their careers and in the Society.

You can find information on the Supporting Women In Gastroenterology Section Committee on their page.
