BSG statement on the war in Ukraine

Updated on: 23 Mar 2022   First published on 23 Mar 2022

We have been shocked and appalled by the scenes witnessed daily of the war in Ukraine. We have great sympathy with the Ukrainian people, including our medical colleagues within that country. As a medical charity, we abhor armed aggression, and indeed violence of any kind, wherever it occurs in the world. We condemn targeting of civilian populations, and in particular targeting of hospitals, other medical facilities, or sites of humanitarian aid. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by war at this time.

The BSG are exploring potential ways that we can help as an organisation, but our members may wish to donate to a charity such as the Disasters Emergency Committee, which is providing aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine, and to those affected by disasters elsewhere in the world.
