Dr Bernard Brett BSG CSSC QI Lead and Secretary Dr Bernard Brett was appointed in 2020 to the position of CSSC QI lead and Secretary. He is also the Chair of East of England Clinical Senate, Deputy Medical Director and a Consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and also works at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His clinical interests include therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and bowel cancer screening.Bernard has held several senior management posts over almost twenty years including having previously been Medical Director, Responsible Officer, Deputy Medical Director, Divisional Director, Director of Patient Flow and Appraisal lead. He is an experienced chair of complex review panels including those looking at major strategic change and Trust mergers. Bernard was the co-author of the BSG job planning guide and has taken part in a RCP invited service review representing the BSG. Bernard has spoken at regional and national meetings on the topic of 7-day working and been an invited speaker on the topics of delivering a sustainable Gastroenterology service for the future and improving colonoscopic adenoma detection rates. He is leading on the development of the Quality Standards Framework for the BSG.
