We are seeking a GI/Hepatology Trainee to join a unique NIHR-funded research project investigating the management of patients with chronic liver disease (CLD) admitted to acute hospital trusts as emergencies. This 2 1/2 year full-time research post is designed to enable the undertaking of a MD/PhD and be part of a team that seeks to help shape the future configuration of national acute Hepatology services. Based at the Institute of Liver Studies at Kings College Hospital London, the Fellow will work with data scientists from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine using ‘big data’ techniques to analyse the care of more than 100K patients with CLD and the effects of socio-economic factors, hospital resources, and different models of care. She/he will work with Ethnographers studying interactions between patients and clinical staff at a number of hospital trusts, how care decisions are reached, and the influences on patient engagement with healthcare.
