Webinar – Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of ‘Gut’
- 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
The BSG is holding its sixth introductory day for newcomers into higher specialist training. This event is aimed at Gastroenterology ST3s who have a national training number*. Gastroenterology ST4s, who have not already been on this course, are also welcome to attend.
Our main aim is to welcome you to our great specialty, but particularly to encourage you to look into the future – not so much as the training programme ahead of you, but beyond that into a career in gastroenterology.
We feel that many trainees focus on the training years that lie ahead and so don’t take a long view about training as a pathway to prepare them for their eventual career as a specialist. This event is designed to help understand the different options out there for your career.
This year, the event will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams, but there will still be lots of opportunities for discussion and networking.
The morning comprises a series of introductory talks from Gastroenterologists who have wide experience of training. In the afternoon there will be a series of ‘Musical Tables’, where small groups of trainees will rotate around separate “tables”, which will be hosted by Gastroenterology Consultants and senior trainees, where a series of relevant topics will be discussed in a more informal and interactive manner.
The BSG Training Committee, the BSG Trainees’ Section and your regional Training Programme Director all support this very important day and strongly encourage you to come along. The Consultants where you are working may be aware that you won’t be in the hospital that day, but we do advise that you check this and book your study leave for the day.
The event costs £20, but after you’ve attended, we’d be delighted to offer you a £20 discount to become a Trainee member of BSG, or a refund for the same amount if you’re already a BSG member.
