"Already in 2014 Copenhagen hosted a very successful ECCO Congress and it is with great anticipation that we return to the city and to the Bella Center. In the last few years ECCO congress has become THE major IBD meeting in the world attracting over 6500 participants, offering possibilities for nurses, dietitians, surgeons, gastroenterologists and physicians in the area of IBD to exchange knowledge and participate in a growing spectrum of educational courses and masterclasses. ECCO reaches out to young clinicians and scientists as well and offers an international platform across and beyond Europe to achieve an improvement in the care of patients with IBD in all its aspects.
The main theme of the congress will be “research drives clinical care” as we are witnessing major breakthroughs of innovation due to new drugs hitting the clinic for our patients and many new personalized approaches for individual patient treatments."
BSG Travelling Fellowship to ENDOCLUBNORD, Hamburg, Nov 2nd-9th 2018
ENDOCLUBNORD has developed over the last 20 years into the largest live endoscopy congress in the World, with more than 2500 delegates attending from Germany and beyond. It remains a centre for the introduction of innovation in endoscopic practice and new technologies. In 2017 Professor Thomas Rösch invited the BSG to partner with ENDOCLUBNORD, with the UK faculty (Colin Rees, Pradeep Bhandari, John Anderson, Siwan Thomas-Gibson, and George Webster) delivering live cases, and leading on ENDOCLUB On Air, providing live commentary and debate for English-speaking centres streamed live on the internet around the world.
To extend the BSG’s engagement we again have the opportunity, through fully supported travelling fellowships, for 10-15 trainees or junior consultants to join us in Hamburg. As well as attending ENDOCLUBNORD (www.endoclubnord.com) on November 2nd-3rd, the fellows will also have the exciting opportunity to stay on for a further week for tailored endoscopic learning experience within the ENDOCLUBNORD allied hospitals. Fellows can expect to be able to select training and exposure to a wide range of interventional endoscopy, including upper and lower GI EMR and ESD, small bowel endoscopy, POEM, ERCP, cholangioscopy, enteral stenting, and HPB/OG EUS. Successful Fellows will also be expected to edit 2 live cases from ENDOCLUBNORD (and will receive training on video-editing) as teaching cases on the online Endoscopy Campus magazine (www.endoscopy-campus.com/en/).
Who should apply?
Applications will be considered from medical/surgical trainees and consultants within 5 years of appointment that are BSG members, and will be most appropriate for those with a career focus including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
What does the sponsorship cover?
Return flights to Hamburg, hotel accommodation, some subsidised dinners and registration to ENDOCLUBNORD will be covered as part of the fellowship.
How to apply.
Please complete the application form below and send, with a testimonial from a referee (must be a BSG member), to the BSG (Bonita Cummings) and titled ‘BSG Travelling Fellowship ENDOCLUBNORD’.
