NICE Quality Standard: Irritable bowel syndrome in adults
This quality standard covers the diagnosis and management of irritable bowel syndrome in adults. It does not cover other gastrointestinal disorders such as non-ulcer dyspepsia, coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. For more information see the irritable bowel syndrome topic overview.
The Neurogastroenterology and Motility Section was established in 2001. Its aims are to promote the understanding and treatment of disorders of gastrointestinal sensation and motility. These aims are to be promoted by the following activities:
- 1. Organisation of symposium at the BSG annual meeting and through "stand alone" meetings held in the autumn of each year.
- 2. Research co-ordination of multi-centre studies and surveys of clinical practice.
- 3. Contribution to the development of BSG clinical guidelines.
- 4. Contributing to the CPD programmes of the BSG
