IBD Quality Improvement Project
IBD teams are invited to sign up for the pilot phase of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Quality Improvement Project. This Health Foundation funded project will run until September 2011 and is being carried out by the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation unit at The Royal College of Physicians. They are supported by a number of other specialist societies, within their steering group, including:
- British Society of Gastroenterology
- Association of Coloproctology in GB and Ireland
- British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition
- Royal College of Nursing
- British Dietetic Association
- Crohn's and Colitis UK
- Primary Care Society of Gastroenterology
The project has a pilot website (www.ibdqip.co.uk), which contains an assessment tool (based on National IBD Standards), for teams to benchmark their care. There is also a linked 'Shared Document Store' with documents and best practice, for services to download (and upload their own documents), to facilitate change management.
Invitations have been sent to all the IBD Clinical Leads (Adult and Paediatric Services), asking them to sign up for the pilot, by 19th November. We will then be selecting 30-40 sites and inviting them to regional meetings in Jan-Feb 2011. Sites will be asked to use the website and feedback to the project team in March – June 2011.
