Position Vacant

Clinical Scientist / Physiologist (Gastrointestinal and Urology)

NHS Jobs reference: 185-A-17-43785

The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is situated in the historic cathedral city of Exeter. Exeter is ideally located amongst beautiful Devon countryside and close to stunning beaches but with excellent rail, road and air links to the rest of the country. The Department of Clinical Measurements conducts a wide range of oesophageal, urological, vascular, sleep and respiratory physiological investigations as well as providing a nurse led bladder and bowel care service.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Scientist or Clinical Physiologist to join our friendly team, working in the gastrointestinal (GI) and urological physiology sections of the department.

The major emphasis of this post will be focused around the GI Physiology Service. You will perform and report a wide range of investigations including high resolution oesophageal manometry, pH and pH with impedance studies, endoscopically placed wireless (Bravo) pH studies, anorectal manometry and endoanal ultrasound. You will also provide a supportive role to urodynamic investigations, flow studies and ultrasound scanning of bladder residuals.

Ideally applicants will be experienced in gastrointestinal physiology and will be an Accredited Independent Practitioner with the Association of GI Physiologists (AGIP) or will be supported to achieve this once in post. Experience of performing and reporting urodynamic investigations, as well as other urological investigations such as flow assessments is also desirable. However, applications will be considered from applicants with differing levels of experience who can demonstrate a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to work across both disciplines. Comprehensive training will be provided where necessary.
