NCRN Upper GI Cancer Prevention Group and BSG Early Diagnosis and Prevention Group Meeting

These meetings have previously been incorporated into the Annual BSG meeting but we felt timely to have a stand alone autumn meeting so that we could attract people who are not normally able to go to the Annual BSG meeting as most gastroenterologists are under pressure as many colleagues have gone to the meeting itself.

As a consequence, we have put together a meeting where we have several experts who are knowledgeable in the area of early diagnosis and cancer prevention, particularly in the upper GI tract. The purpose of this meeting is to update you on developments and see if we can have a focussed group to help to devise new clinical trials in this area.

As you are aware, gastroenterology cancer prevention has really taken off in the last ten years, particularly with the success of the AspECT and Boss studies. In addition the Chopin/Eagle consortia is now the largest group of researchers studying Barrett's in Europe, if not the world.
